چکیده [English]

Background and Objectives: Leisure time represents one of the most significant concepts in modern mechanized life, particularly regarding how it is utilized by student-teachers—an influential group in the development of a country's educational system. Accordingly, this study aimed to design a paradigmatic model for developing leisure time activities among student-teachers nationwide, with emphasis on analyzing current challenges. Methods: The research adopted a qualitative approach using grounded theory methodology. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with three key stakeholder groups: student-teachers, faculty members, and welfare staff at Farhangian University campuses across the country during the 2021-2022 academic year. Participants were selected through theoretical sampling, with interviews continuing until data saturation was achieved, resulting in 64 participants. Interview content was analyzed using interpretive analytical methods involving three-stage coding (open, axial, and selective). Findings: The analysis ultimately identified 274 open codes, which were consolidated into 19 axial codes and further refined into 6 main categories: causal factors, core category, strategies, intervening factors, contextual components, and outcomes of developing student-teachers' leisure time with emphasis on current challenges. These categories were presented in a schematic model. Conclusion: Based on the study results, it is hoped that with attention from relevant authorities, steps can be taken to enhance objectives, planning, and management of leisure time development for student-teachers at Farhangian University nationwide. This would consequently contribute to developing knowledgeable and active teachers and students—academically, physically, and psychologically—ultimately fostering a healthy, happy, and dynamic society.
